Victor Davis Hanson on George S Patton at Hillsdale College

General George S. Patton was exceptional - not only for his formidable record on the battlefield but for the way he viewed the world in a time when we needed warriors. Victor Davis Hanson's talk at Hillsdale College in 2020 covers why some people in our highly civilized liberal democracy are needed during times of crisis but are otherwise persona non grata.

Victor Davis Hanson covers such people as General Sherman and his "march to the sea" at the end of the U.S. Civil War, Curtis LeMay's use of low-level napalm bombing in Korea and even General Colin Powell's use of the term "kill them" during the first Gulf War.
