This is a fascinating documentary-profile of the Ukrainian-born dancer Vladimir Malakhov, who now dances with the American Ballet Theatre and the National Ballet of Canada. Rated by many as the top male dancer in the modern world, he has performed most of the leading solo roles in the repertoire to great acclaim.

The programme investigates the often punishing daily rituals of the dancer, and features rehearsal and performance segments of Massenet's Manon (with the Vienna State Opera Ballet); of Voyage, choreographed for Malakhov by Renato Zanella; and of Adam's Giselle (with the National Ballet of Canada).

There is also footage of Malakhov discussing his first public performance (which took place at the tender age of four), and of Reid Anderson talking lucidly on classical ballet technique.
