“Small Town Small Talk” is the song that makes me laugh and shake my head at the same time — it’s pure holler life set to music.
I wrote it after one of those mornings when I stepped off the porch with what I thought was a tiny little secret, only to have the lady at the general store give me that knowing wink before I even opened my mouth. By the time I got back home the whole valley already had its own version of the story! The rooster’s crowin’, the porch lights are judgin’, and the wind carries whispers faster than the creek runs after a rain.
This one’s light, rhythmic, and a little sassy — about how in a small town everybody knows your business before you do, but somehow it’s still home. The claps and acoustic guitar feel just like sittin’ on the porch watchin’ the gossip fly from the river bank to the highest peak. It ain’t mean-spirited… it’s just the way things are around here, and I kinda love it that way.
