On March 30, 2021, the defense attorney had his turn to cross examine the witness, Minneapolis Firefighter Genevieve Hansen, when she became defensive. Judge Peter Cahill then dismissed the jury for the day. Judge Cahill gave Hansen a stern warning and explained the proper court procedures when testifying. Judge Cahill ended the court proceedings for the day and instructed Hansen to return the next morning at 9:30 AM.
