in this video Jason reveals the common three-step process that timeshare owners go through when they decide that they are frustrated with their timeshare and maintenance fees and they want to get out. This process involves generally the first step of contacting the Timeshare company followed by the second step of trying to sell their timeshare followed by a third step of going the rout of the transfer.

Just a brief description of each starting with contacting your Timeshare company. Bottom line it is not the simple straightforward solution that most people make it out to be given that most companies will never take back your timeshare. If you have tried talking to these people then you understand that there is no incentive on their part and generally they will have very little time to discuss that option with you. However what they will likely do is try to upsell you into a “better” package. This is typically something that you can use more or get more use out of because you can use it at different times on different destinations. However what generally happens here is when people get up sold they end up with another deed and that means another mortgage on their timeshare. Not always but this is likely going to be the case for many people.

The second method is the route of trying to sell the timeshare. Less than 1% of Timeshare is actually resell. That is a cream credibly important statistic given that the vast majority of people I speak with on the phone have tried to sell their timeshare. Generally speaking they will go through 2 to 3 years of this and pay a listing company and it still won’t sell meaning that they will have an extra two to $3000 in maintenance fees over that time. Plus the listing fee. This is $4500 that could’ve been avoided if they would’ve taken the route of the transfer. Not always. But in many cases.

Which brings us to the final method which people use it as a transfer which generally goes about accomplishing the only real thing you want to do when getting out of a timeshare which is to get your name off the deed. This is transferring ownership. No there were definitely scams involved with transfer companies the most common of which deals with timeframe. Generally speaking transport companies at least many of them will claim they can get you out in six weeks to no more than 90 days but that is false given that the average is probably some around me in a 12 month range. Also another scam is if they tell you that you don’t have to pay your maintenance fees because the real truth is as most people know you’re going to have to keep paying your maintenance fees during that time so you don’t run the risk of negatively impacting your credit.
