TRY ME Button!

Originally recorded October 17, 2019.

The wif got a set of those LED battery powered candles for her birthday. They're actually made of wax for authenticity. Wow. Anyway it was a set of 3, and one of them had this TRY ME button connected to it. I figured I should take a quick peek inside.

I found exactly what I expected, a CR2032 battery! Not only can that battery be used for other important things such as a computer motherboard, it also is replaceable should the TRY ME button be placed into service for no particular interesting reason.

I had the idea to plug an LED into the connector at the end of it, and there it was, a red light that I could light up, just by pushing a button! It was just like the kind of thing my dad would make for me as a kid and give me, and then I could go around and flash the light at people, just because I can! A complete circuit in your hands! Imagine the luxury!

I saved this, because you never, ever, EVER know when you might need a TRY ME button.

Many years ago, as a little kid, while seeing the whole extended family on a holiday at my grandfather's house, my uncle rigged up a little piezo "ding-dong" buzzer (from Radio Shack) with an AA battery or two and a pushbutton he had laying around. I must have hit that so many times, and by the end of the night, everyone was so tired of hearing ding-dong they wanted to kill me. What I had was the early version of a TRY ME button!
