General Motors new LMR batteries... will it give them an advantage?

General Motors will be using Lithium Manganese Rich (LMR) batteries in their future EV line up.

Manganese is an abundant element in the earth's crust, bringing down the cost of EV battery packs, and making EV prices reach parity with gas powered vehicles.

With 8,000 Chevy, Buick, Cadillac and GMC dealers across the Unites States GM is poised to overtake Tesla sales and possibly become the top selling electric vehicle manufacturer in the USA.

On a personal note, I've owned 4 plug-in Chevy vehicles; a 2013 Volt, a 2017 Volt and currently the 2020 Bolt and a 2025 Blazer EV. I've also test driven the entire GM EV lineup, as well as Ford, Stellantis, Toyota and Hyundai.

Tesla is a huge innovator in the EV space, but the ride, fit and finish are not as good as the GM models, in my opinion.
