Conrail and Raritan Central, Middlesex County Operations, April 2015
During the month of April, the guys and myself became high interested in the Local operations around the area. From Conrail, to Raritan Center Operations, please enjoy.
We open up the video at MENLO, where we ride along the night Job out of Metuchen, ME-47. Conrail ME-47 is the feed train to and from Oak Island traversing the northeast corridor. The train beings the outbound cars from the Metuchen local jobs, along with the outbounds from Raritan Center.
After we had seen it come on through Metuchen, the Chase began. We ride along side of the train on Route 27, from Metuchen, through Metropark, and into Rahway, where we jumped ahead to get a good stand still shot of it coming through the station.

The following day, we set out to watch Raritan Central and its everyday operations. We showed up as RC-02 was working its newly acquired industry, Home Depot. Home Depot is serviced nearly everyday by the RCRY, getting in loaded centerbeams of wood, and boxcars for the warehouse. We follow them halfway back to the yard, before heading over to Metuchen yard to see what was happening on the other side of Route 1.

Upon the arrival of Metuchen, Conrail ME-05 was working splitting apart the ME-47 loads from the previous nights train. They are Sorting out the RCRY cars, ME-05 train, and ME-02 train with the two 4 axles that reside in Metuchen.

Later that same day, after getting out of work, we start the night catching the end of RCRY RC-03 as they finished drilling out some empty plastic cars. RC-03 has the previously seen power from earlier in the day, along with the 2244, an Ex-BNSF GP38 with a great K5LA.

Around 2300 hours that night, we head to Metuchen yard after the RC-03 tied down. ME-47 was just on the pull with new power that came back from Oak Island that morning. They go for the pull, and we begin chase once again. We see them as they leave the yard, come through Metuchen station, and once more come through Rahway Station.

A few days later, towards the end of the month, myself and Joe are trackside on the General Tire Spur. where we watch ME-02 shove caboose first down the tracks to begin its drill at the hopper place on the spur. We see cars from National Can, and cars for the Millstone running track on the train. After they came to a stop, we watched them go back and forth before getting ready to go further down to COUNTY where they would split onto the Millstone Running Track. Thats where the video ends, at Jersey Avenue Train Station.

I hope you enjoyed this short video, of some of the Metuchen area locals and their daily rounds on the rails. Stay tuned for more videos.
