📌 What is FIRMS Portal?
The FIRMS portal (Foreign Investment Reporting and Management System) is an online platform launched by RBI for reporting foreign investment transactions under FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act) regulations.

It is mandatory for Indian companies receiving FDI to report inward remittances and issue of shares through this portal. The key forms under FIRMS include FC-GPR, FC-TRS, LLP-I, LLP-II, etc.

🧩 Who Needs to Register on the RBI FIRMS Portal?
If your company has received foreign investment or plans to issue shares to a foreign investor, then RBI mandates you to register and file forms through the FIRMS portal.

Registration has two stages:

FIRMS Business User Registration

FIRMS Entity User Registration

Let’s look at each step in detail.

🧑‍💼 Step 1: FIRMS Business User Registration
The FIRMS business user registration is the first step. The person (usually the authorized signatory of the Indian company) needs to register with their official email ID and mobile number. This person will later log in and submit FC-GPR or other forms.

✅ Documents Required:

PAN and CIN of the company

Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

Board resolution (if applicable)

Authorized signatory details

Once the registration request is submitted, RBI will verify and approve the business user ID.

🏢 Step 2: FIRMS Entity User Registration
After the business user is approved, the next step is FIRMS entity user registration. This links your company (the legal entity receiving FDI) to the business user on the portal. It enables the filing of actual forms like FC-GPR.

✅ Documents Needed:

Company master details

Authorised capital and paid-up capital

RBI UIN (if already issued)

FDI details including date and amount of receipt

📄 Filing FC-GPR on FIRMS Portal
Once both user registrations are approved, the company can file FC-GPR (Foreign Currency-Gross Provisional Return) form. This form is mandatory when Indian companies issue shares or securities to a person resident outside India under the FDI route.

👉 The FC-GPR form must be filed within 30 days of share allotment.

📝 FC-GPR Form Submission Guide:
Login with business user credentials

Navigate to "Form FC-GPR"

Enter FDI transaction details – date, amount, mode of receipt

Attach required documents (FIRC, KYC, valuation certificate, share allotment resolution, etc.)

Submit and track approval status
