This spotted hyena in Kenya stops to investigate our 360 degree virtual reality camera.

Curious and adaptable, spotted hyenas live in advanced, female-dominated clans. Their razor-sharp teeth and exceptionally strong bite (twice as powerful as lions) allow them to eat bones of old kills when fresh prey are scarce. By cleaning up old kills, hyenas contribute to African ecosystems. They are also efficient hunters, predating primarily on antelope.

Female hyenas have a pseudo-penis, which makes telling females from males difficult. Clan members get information about another's identity and recent whereabouts by sniffing each other's genitalia. Hyenas are the only mammal where the male inserts its penis into a female's penis-like structure.
