MAN OF TAI CHI: Case Study | Asian Film Summit | Festival 2013

The Asian Film Summit returned to the Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. The Summit was a key element of the Festival's ongoing commitment to build bridges between Asian cinema and the West.

SESSION NOTE

This year's event featured a Case Study: Man of Tai Chi panel, with director and star Keanu Reeves, producer Lemore Syvan and RADiUS-TWC co-president Tom Quinn sharing insight into the process of bringing the US-China co-production to fruition. Michael Lake, CEO of Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios, Reliance Big Pictures (Mumbai) CEO Sanjeev Lamba, Rhombus Media Co-Founder Niv Fichman and Canadian producer Shan Tam (Finding Mr. Right) discussed their experiences working cross-culturally, and the challenges and opportunities of global storytelling. Marco Mueller, producer and the Artistic Director of the Rome Film Festival, and director Johnnie To engaged in a one-on-one discussion on issues of international filmmaking, attaining global audiences, and more. Other panelists included influential Japanese film figure Tatsumi "Tom" Yoda.
