It is a way of smoothing out the moves of the market yet doing away with the lag. Alan Hall himself that you shouldn't use this indicator as a crossover strategy but it should be used on its own (just trading the turn). But could you perhaps use a variation to this or use Hull Moving Average with a conventional moving average? The goal is of course to trade the trend... The Hull Moving Average aims to make a moving average more responsive while preserving a curve smoothness
