Making $1,000 per pasture pig | Millennial Farmer | Regenerative Agriculture

Here's a quick video of how I net close to $1,000 per pig I raise on the farm.

I raise hyper-locally fed pigs, which are fed: raw goat milk, apples in season, local non-GMO corn, and wheat shorts from a processed flour mill.

Pigs convert around 3.5 to 4 pounds of feed to 1 pound of body weight with my type of feed.

From beginning to end, they will consume around 1,200-1,400 pounds of feed until butcher weight. In the summer time, the pigs are able to forage hay for additional feed.

Here's the basic breakdown per pig, which you can scale to your farm operation:

*Cost*
$50 per piglet
$150 for feed (minerals, diesel cost, and feed cost)

*Livestock*
Live weight ~300 to ~350 lbs
Hanging weight (after insides and head are removed) ~200 to 250 lbs

*Market Value*
$5.50-6 per lb

*Income*
$1,100 to 1,500 range

*Profit*
Ranging from $900 to $1,200 per pig

** Note: labor is not accounted for.
