VW Golf Mk4 Most Common faults & problems - Buyer's checklist for issues 1997-2004 models Bora/Jetta

I've owned 9 different VW Golf Mk4 models over the last 20 years so got to know a few of the common issues & problems. Many of the problems are now due to the age of the cars and not mechanical faults as such. Things like rubber bushes perish over time and need to be replaced.
