Bonding with your pet sugar glider is one of the most important things you can do to enjoy all the benefits and all the rewards of having a sugar glider as a pet.

Sugar gliders require a lot of socialization, a lot of time commitment and a lot of handling to ensure that they become very social, very used to humans and handling. And to ensure that they don't become aggressive, nervous, or become biters. One of the biggest concerns with some sugar gliders is they can become somewhat pinchy, somewhat nervous and become easily stressed. So bonding with them is very important.

The commitment when you get a sugar to spending a lot of time with them. To handling them, touching them. To having them get used to you. Having them get used to the environment they're going to live in. The sounds, the surroundings and everything that relates to the future home they'll have are vitally important.

One of the most important things for sugar gliders is that they have a pouch as you can see the one here. Sugar gliders naturally will adapt to and have a desire to want to climb into and be kept in pouches. These type of pouches are commercially available or they can be made. And people often have numerous ones in different styles and colors to house and keep their sugar gliders in.

These are a great way to transport them to the veterinarian. These are excellent for carrying them around the house while you're bonding with them and getting them used to being handled and touched.

And they're also great to have modifications in their cage. When you're setting up the cage, you want to have a number of different types of small pouches, small bags, sleep sacks, hammocks. Any of those type of things that help the sugar glider feel a lot more secure. And by feeling more secure in the home it means they're going to be more social, less likely to be fearful and stressed as a pet and allow you to have a stronger and more fulfilling bond with your pet.

So be sure to devote a lot of time, a lot of effort. And be sure that you get a sugar glider at the appropriate size and age so that you have enough time to bond with them, to socialize them and make sure they become a highly desirable and enjoyable pet.
