Episode 15: “The regular girl who dreamed she was a mermaid”

In honor of the 10 year anniversary of my Chubby Mermaid video (thank you for 78 MILLION views!), here is a kind of modern “Retelling” of the original story. A new music video for the song "Queenfish" by Emezie, available on Spotiy / iTunes / Amazon / etc.

Ayane finds her missing hair bead in the Chubby Mermaid world, but immediately ends up dropping it on her head by accident (thanks to Maria’s watermelon seed). In her unconscious state, she has a vision of another world where she is some sort of student at a school. Student Ayane likes to sketch comics on her note book paper, and one comic tells the familiar story of a chubby mermaid who is in love with a fisherman…though some details aren’t quite the same as we remember…

However, Student Mina Kim comes and messes up Student Ayane’s comic, inserting an obnoxious skinny mermaid to the story!

Eventually the conflict between the two comic mermaids spills into the school world where Student Ayane and Student Mina stand poised to do battle! Can Student Bobby (who bears a striking resemblance to the Fisherman in the comic) stop these two from fighting?

Or maybe they can even become friends…?

And which world is the “real” one…the School World or the Mermaid World? Who exactly is dreaming whom…?

The Queenfish (Ayane Shiun) is back for more seafaring adventures, along with the Catfish (Mina Kim) and the Fisherman (Bobby Sykes). She’s joined by a cast of colorful characters who all look vaguely familiar…

Fans of Porkchop ’n Flatscreen should feel right at home…in fact, the parallels between the two series might just give you some insight into your favorite PCFS characters…
