Clock Striking Mechanism (part 1 of 2)

In 1972 Meccano introduced the clock kits 1 and 2. More here http://meccanokinematics.net/meccano/models/11-clock-striking-mechanism/ and below.

Kit 1 was a simple weight driven pendulum wall clock and kit 2 was a more ambitious version and included a fairly complicated mechanism for striking the hours.

The functionality of the striking mechanism of clock kit 2 is in my opinion however not very reliable.

In 2008 I designed and built a new striking mechanism, partly based on the concept of clock kit nr 2.
