How to clean your engagement ring at home

Harriet Kelsall demonstrates how to keep your precious rings clean, using materials found at home. This works for most precious metal engagement rings where the stones are diamond, ruby, sapphire, aquamarine, amethyst, garnet, tourmaline, topaz, citrine, and other hard gemstones.
We have made this in response to many questions about how to keep rings clean and sparkly whilst washing your hands, and using hand cream many times a day, during this Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Also we have had questions about whether hand sanitiser can damage engagement rings.
Important: do not use this technique for rings that are not made from precious metal, and for rings containing sensitive gemstones like emerald, pearl, opal, and tanzanite.
