Mile End parkrun - London East End free weekly 5K

London’s East End has changed, gone is Jack the Ripper, now on Saturday mornings you can enjoy a free, weekly, timed 5K if you escaped the faceless Ripper on Friday night!

A very ‘urban’ event, which is a nice change from the usual feel of most parkrun venues. Lovely local team and runners and a very enjoyable undulating route with a section by Regents’ Canal.

The route is two laps, out and back. They say they have one hill, but they really have 3… which you have to do twice. Cheeky.

As runners we are a competitive bunch, but we only compete with ourselves! Anyone can join and enjoy a weekly parkrun 5K, run, jog or run-walk it!

You can read a comprehensive review of Mile End parkrun on my website:

[to come]

You can also find a list of other venues I reviewed below. Nearly all of them have video highlights stored on my YouTube channel:

A Relive clip of the route is available as a short on this channel.

Finally, one thing that makes exploring different parkrun venues even more interesting for me is chasing parkrun challenges. They are completely pointless, but completing challenges and filling up maps is fun and it gives me one more reason to be consistent in attending weekly parkrun events and improve myself in my running journey. You can see information on parkrun challenges and the parkrun apps used to track them below:
