My Failed Attempt at Self Intubation with the Airtraq SP

Because of my "anterior cords", I am a difficult intubation. Consequently, I've wanted to attempt a self-intubation with the Airtraq SP for a long time. At the end of a recent night shift I was finally able to accomplish my goal...well almost. Due to my anterior cords (and despite excellent topical anesthesia) gag inducing excessive pressure was required on the pharyngeal soft tissues by the Airtraq SP preventing a successful intubation. Nevertheless, this video still has some redeeming value (e.g. entertainment and a little bit of education).
