Making the Moon Work: Governance and Safety in a New Environment

We will soon see more lunar landings than any year since the Apollo program. These missions include traditional space-powers, emerging space-faring nations, and private sector flights. This renewed interest in the Moon has commercial, exploration, scientific, and national security drivers that must inform the development of common principles for safety, operational sustainability, and effective governance in lunar activities. This panel will address how we make an increasingly busy Moon work for stakeholders, as the international community works to develop governance principles for the lunar environment.
