Rick Levine's Astrology Forecast for February 2021

THE OLD VERSUS THE NEW! February is all about the dynamic conflict between innovation and the status quo. The first of three stressful squares between conservative Saturn and progressive Uranus on February 17 sets the stage for the entirety of 2021 — and even well into 2022. This month’s forecast begins with a deep dive into understanding the decisions we must make. Simplistically speaking, we are confronted by the choice between holding onto the present by binding it to the past (Saturn) and moving into the future by embracing change (Uranus). However, the lesson of this square is that there are no winners in this grudge match if there are any losers. It might be a difficult pill to swallow, but February represents the opening volley to a contest where everyone is on the same side, whether they realize it or not.

Although Mercury is retrograde until February 20, there is a distinctly futuristic flavor to the month with five planets in Aquarius once Venus leaves Capricorn on February 1. The New Moon on February 11 has six planets in fixed sign Aquarius, several of which square Mars and Uranus in fixed sign Taurus throughout the month. Neither sign wants to give an inch to the other as the stress continues to build. Thankfully, the heated tensions may cool a bit once the Sun enters sensitive Pisces on February 18, followed by Venus on February 25. But an emotionally intense Mars-Pluto trine on February 24 raises the stakes again as we become more entrenched in our individual perspectives. The Virgo Full Moon on February 27 gives us a chance to gain clarity and its trine to unorthodox Uranus indicates the potential for an unexpected breakthrough as we seek resolutions to our differences. But the Full Moon is also quincunx Saturn and Chiron, reminding us that creating a unified front must still acknowledge the complexity of diversity.

Old belief structures from the past are not going to disappear overnight. But resisting the new will not prevent the future from arriving on time. The fear of change is real, as is the fear of no change. Nevertheless, denial is not an option. The Saturn-Uranus square repeats on June 14 and December 23, giving us enough time to face our concerns as we grapple with the cosmic significance of these times. Although the future is uncertain, one thing is for sure: there is no escape. We are all in this together and it is together that we must create solutions to our personal and collective dilemmas.
