Michael Irvine Interviewed about Sedona's freedom to travel (1999)

This is an interview with my father Michael Irvine from back in 1999 where he was talking about how the Forest Service was encroaching on public roads and paths to prevent people from accessing the places they used to be able to access.

He was right about his concerns back then since the issue only got worse and worse over time and now today the Forest Service has blocked off almost everywhere we used to enjoy going.

My father also has muscular dystrophy and can't hike in to the places that were blocked off like some people might be able to, so for people like him and others these areas were permanently blocked off with no way to enjoy anymore.

We see both sides and we agree that protecting the environment is important, but so is protecting our freedom and the Forest Service almost seems more interested in making money as they have essentially funneled everyone into the areas where you have to pay for the most part and the parks are full of garbage and fallen trees blocking paths etc despite millions of visitors coming here each year and all the money that they collect which could be used to address those constant issues.

If they care about the environment so much, why do they never or barely ever seem to pick up the garbage or maintain the parks to any meaningful degree?

Our ancestors fought and died for our freedoms and they have now blocked almost everything off except for funneling people into the parks or "jeep tour" areas where only certain vehicles can go or where it costs money to go, plus there's the whole Red Rock pass thing which is yet another scheme designed to prevent people from our constitutional rights in order to gain even more and more money under the guise if protecting the environment.

The government tends to use such psychological methods in an attempt to gain public approval by claiming they are helping when they are really trying to increase their own power and wealth.

Maybe someday we can encourage, inspire and teach people to be more honorable, compassionate and loving instead of forcefully trying to steal their money, punish them, control and enslave them.
