One of the core animation principles - Anticipation!

What it means: 👇

🌊 Every action starts with a move in the opposite direction.
Before you throw a ball, your arm pulls back.

Before a character walks, their weight shifts to one foot.
Before someone blows a trumpet, they take a deep breath.
That setup move is the anticipation.

Here are the 3 things you need to know 👇
1️⃣ Anticipation signals what's coming.
Done right, the viewer knows what's about to happen before it does. That's not a spoiler. That's clarity.

2️⃣ The bigger the action, the bigger the prep.
A gentle step needs a small weight shift. A full wind-up needs a big one. Scale your anticipation to the force of the movement.

3️⃣ A great anticipation pose can stand alone.
If you draw it with enough clarity, the pose tells the whole story without the action that follows. That's what makes it interesting on its own.
