Firing an Airgun Pellet from a Centrefire - Part 1

A comprehensive look at the velocities and penetration into ballistics gel obtained by fitting a centrefire cartridge with an airgun pellet and using a primer as the sole propellant source. Testing .177 in .17 remington, .20 in .204 ruger, .22 in .222 remington, .25 in .25-06 and big bore 9mm in .357 magnum.

The .17 Rem. is underbored, but you can load a pellet by pushing it up through the primer hole forming it down and seating it in the neck with a nail.

The velocity figures in the table are the average of 5 shots with the exception of the .357 and the small/large rifle primers which was the average of 2 as they couldn't be easily reloaded in the field like the others.
