Turkey’s Infamous “WET” BURGER | Trying Islak Burgers in Istanbul

The Islak Burger is Turkey’s notorious wet hamburger. A burger smothered in tomato sauce and kept hot inside a steamed glass case until ready to serve. Loved by locals and highly questioned by tourists, the Islak Burger is one of Turkey’s most unique modern foods and one that, at least in my opinion, everyone must try at least once while in Turkey.

While in Istanbul, I went on a treasure hunt for all of the best, must-try foods, drinks, and desserts that Turkey has to offer. In this fifth episode of my Turkish food series, I introduce you to the Islak Burger, Turkey’s incredibly unique and surprisingly tasty “wet” hamburger.
