How Indonesia's digital infrastructure helped to create this wealth distribution platform | DW News

Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is south-east Asia’s fastest growing internet economy. In the face of the pandemic, Lody Andrian teamed up with some friends to stand strong - and help the ones in need.

They came up with BagiRata, a wealth distribution platform where the name reflects the aim: It translates to "equal share".

BagiRata is a cross-subsidy platform for people who are affected by the pandemic, especially informal workers who don't get government assistance or don't get help from their offices.

More than 4,000 people from all over Indonesia have already received money through BagiRata. The founders have distributed around 90,000 € in donations. The key to success was that Laudi took advantage of an existing digital infrastructure that had been built up in Indonesia in recent years.
