Dominic Frisby: Bitcoin is the digital Domesday Book of the 21st century
Dominic talks about his involvement in the documentary The Four Horsemen, created by Ross Ashcroft. Dominic helped creating, writing and narrating it but the movie left a bit of bad aftertaste as Dominic feels he hasn’t been created enough. He says everyone involved was ripped off.
Dominic talks about his book Life after the State. Society has gone wrong and he wanted to address that. His argument is that without government involvement things would be much better. Since 1914 things have deteriorated, since we have left the gold standard. Wars have been made possible because of that. Dominic things government is both immoral, because it’s not voluntary, and it’s ineffective. He illustrates it with education, health and the money system. He’s arguing for a voluntary collectivism. Dominic argues that people are willing to pay for things voluntarily.
Even though Dominic wants a smaller state he has no answer as to how privatize assets considering the rigged money system. He is a clear advocate for competing currencies though. Dominic is not in favour of a debt jubilee.
He’d propose to change the tax system, including a land tax and lowering income tax.
We talk about Hayek’s competing currencies. The market should use which money it wants to use. Take away this monopoly of money. Governments should also accept taxes in different currencies.
Problem with bitcoin is that it's in the wrong phase in the hype cycle right now. It’s a bear market says Dominic. Dominic is specifically interested in blockchain uses like ID, reputation and ownership. The blockchain is a digital Domesday Book of the 21st century.
We also talk about Dominic’s hunt for Satoshi. In the book he writes it’s Nick Szabo. Furthermore we talk about the amount of coins Satoshi supposedly has and much, much more.
