Van Gogh's Sunflowers at Oak Park Preparatory Academy

In the spirit of Vincent Van Gogh and inspired by the sunflowers planted across Oak Park this past summer, students from Oak Park Preparatory Academy took brush to canvas to create masterpieces in water color. The City delivered sunflowers to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students from Ms. Catherine Kaczmar’s class to first study, then turn into art. Their creations are now being featured in the Oak Park City Hall Art Gallery for all to enjoy.

Vincent Van Gogh, a Dutch painter, created two series of sunflower portraits. The first paintings depicted two buttons of flowers lying on the ground and one year later his art features a bouquet arrangement of sunflowers in a vase.
