Israeli airstrikes pounded southern Lebanon overnight, killing at least 18 people and wounding 33 others, according to Lebanon’s health ministry, as tensions sharply escalated along the border.

Lebanese officials said heavy bombardment struck multiple towns in the Nabatieh district, severely disrupting rescue and evacuation efforts. The strikes were described as among the heaviest in recent weeks.

The escalation comes despite the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, which calls for an immediate end to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon. The latest attacks have raised fresh concerns over the future of the ceasefire and regional stability.
