From the heart of Ghent, Belgium, A Murder in Mississippi continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of Roots music. This six-piece band, deeply rooted in the vibrant scene of Ghent's renowned Blues & Roots club, The Missy Sippy, weaves a compelling sonic tapestry of Americana, Country, Folk, Blues, and Irish Traditional.

The band, comprised of Leander Vandereecken (guitar, lead vocals), Mirthe Vandereecken (percussion, vocals), Lore Heyerick (banjo, vocals), Dieter Vanhede (keys), Alexandra Van Wesemael (violin), and Stijn Bontinck (double bass), has garnered an international reputation, selling out venues across Belgium and the Netherlands, and embarking on successful tours through Portugal, Spain, and France. A highlight of their 2023 was headlining the prestigious La Roche Bluegrass Festival.

Their journey began with the release of their self-titled debut album, "A MURDER IN MISSISSIPPI" (2018), which showcased their authentic and virtuosic approach to Americana. This was followed by "HURRICANA" (2021), a deeply personal album reflecting the turbulent times surrounding its creation.

In 2024, they presented "Reverie," their third album, recorded at dunk!studios with producer Jonas Everaert, and released by For the Road Records, carrying the torch from the late Tiny Legs Tim's Sing my Title label. "Reverie" perfectly embodies its title, a state of pleasant contemplation, drawing listeners into a delightful reverie of sound.

The album builds upon the strengths of its predecessors, showcasing a marked evolution in songwriting, musicianship, and production. The band's signature (almost) all-strings setup, combined with powerful vocals, creates an exceptionally rich and engaging listening experience.
