Orchard Road’s Unknown Foodie History In The ‘60s | There's Something About Orchard | Ep 3/3
What do Indian Mee Siam, Loh Gai Yik and Corned Beef Fried Rice have in common? The Orchard Road precinct! Would you be able to guess that this iconic stretch of road was where a hawker centre started in a carpark, where our love of American-style fast food was born, and where fine dining Russian cuisine was served in the ‘60s?
The tangy afterbite of sour gravy, the the rich umami of beef, the perfect charcoal wok-smell of fried rice, and a plethora of other tastes will inspire chef Ivan Yeo as he designs a multi-course dinner experience filled with flavours of Orchard Road’s past for a select few guests. These dishes will also be available at his restaurant for a limited period of time!
