Overcoming Struggles to Become an F/A-18 Fighter Pilot & Top Gun Graduate - Vincent “Jell-O” Aiello

On this episode, I had the honor to speak with retired Navy F/A-18 and F-16 pilot Vincent “Jell-O” Aiello.
Jell-O was a navy fighter pilot for over 20 years and in his time in the navy, he had the opportunity to attend the Navy fighter weapons school, better known as Top Gun. While he was stationed in Japan, his doctor informed him that he had a major heart problem that would ground him from flying. Miraculously, he was able to take flight again and continue to fly the F/A-18 as well as the F-16 Viper. Jell-O now flys for a major US airline and hosts the Fighter Pilot podcast.
Jell-O recently published a book called “Through the Yellow Visor”, which chronicles the life and misadventures of a US Navy fighter pilot.

We start of this episode by talking with Jell-O about how he first got into aviation, and how he overcame obstacles to get into the military. We then talk about how he made it to the highest levels of naval aviation through attending Top Gun. Jell-O also shared about how he overcame a major heart issue and was able to make it back to flying jets and pulling up to 9gs.

Buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride!
