Reporting A Workplace Injury - Timeline and Tips

If you’ve been unfortunate enough to be #injured at work, you may be wondering what to do next.

It’s imperative that you not only report your injury to your employer in a timely manner but that you properly report the injury. Mistakes in reporting can be challenging to overcome.

#Florida #workerscompensation law requires you to report your injury to your employer within 30 days. If you’ve been injured let your supervisor know immediately. If it’s an emergency it will be obvious that you need immediate care. If the injury is non-emergent your supervisor may have you fill out an incident report. Make sure you request a copy.

If there is no incident report filed, be sure to send an email with the date and time of the injury, a description, and a request for medical treatment.

Your employer should then direct you to an initial doctor who is usually at a walk-in clinic. They should also notify the insurance company of your injury and you will eventually hear from them.

Failure to report your injury in a timely manner can result in your claim being denied.
