BIDEN SIGNS $1.9 TRILLION Unemployment Extension $300 Stimulus Update PUA FPUC Unemployment Benefits

Let's talk about the US economy and unemployment numbers in this week’s jobs report from the good folks over at the Department of Labor.

This week’s jobs report showed great news for the economy, as the actual unemployment figures were lower than last week, and exceeded the estimates of the economists from the DOW Jones.

The weekly report showed that 712,000 Americans filed their first time unemployment claims, which is much lower than the previous week’s 745,000 revised initial claims.

These numbers are also slightly below the 725,000 first time claims predicted by economists, and are a good sign of brighter days ahead for a full recovery of the economy and job market.

Meanwhile, the great state of Colorado is making some bold claims concerning the upcoming weekly $300 FPUC extended enhanced unemployment benefits, especially considering the past rollout of vital stimulus unemployment funds.

The state labor department recently made an emphatic statement to Coloradans on unemployment in a press release yesterday: “We anticipate no gap in benefits for most claimants.”

This news comes after the state suffered an 8-week lapse in unemployment claims when the CARES Act ended last year.

Daniel Chase from the Colorado DOL stated: “Due to increased flexibility from the U.S. DOL, and consistency between the CAA eligibility criteria and the American Rescue Plan, we believe we will be able to implement the federal changes prior to Sunday, which will prevent a gap in benefits for most claimants using the federal programs.”

I sure hope that they can keep their word, especially after fumbling the ball for 2 full months during a time when thousands of Coloradans required unemployment benefits the most.

Finally, President Biden is wasting no time getting his $1.9 trillion stimulus package signed, sealed and delivered to the millions of Americans still in need of disaster relief funds.

Instead of signing the bill tomorrow, the President has moved up the date to TODAY, signing the American Rescue Plan into law.

This means that we could see an extension to those weekly $300 FPUC unemployment benefits without any lapses in payments.

Ron Klain, Mr. Biden’s chief of staff, explained in a tweet this morning: “The enrolled bill arrived last night -- so @POTUS is signing it today -- we want to move as fast as possible.”

He continued: “We will hold our celebration of the signing on Friday, as planned, with Congressional leaders.

Biden signed the historic $1.9 trillion stimulus package into law.
