(SNES) Turn And Burn: No-Fly Zone - Ace Level Playthrough (042)

Roughly 20 years ago, this was one of a few fun sim that makes you feel like Maverick piloting an F-14 Tomcat. I'm playing at the Ace difficulty mode to get to the ending screen. The enemies are more aggressive, and they take more hits before they're down. On the other hand, your aircraft now can withstand less damage.

The game is more or less and F-14 simulator. It probably takes place some time in the summer of 1986, when the uncertainty of Cold War still prevails. The game is played from a first person view, where we are a pilot of an F-14 Tomcat. We'll get to take off from the carrier, standard weapons loadout: M61 "Vulcan" cannon, up to 2 short range AIM-7 Sparrow, 2 long range AIM-9 Sidewinder, and eventually AIM-54 Phoenix. Not quite like Afterburner, or Ace Combat, with it's 60+ missiles. After all MIGs are down, there may be additional mission objective, like taking out protected islands, oil rigs, AWACS, stolen SR-71 etc. When the plane is low in fuel, an A-6 will be sent out for us to do mid-air refueling. And after all that, we will have to land safely back in the carrier.
Turn and Burn: No-Fly Zone - known in Japan as Super Dogfight: F-14 Tomcat Air Combat Game (スーパードッグファイト?) - is a jet flight simulator developed by Imagineering studio of Absolute Entertainment for the Super NES, released in 1994. It is the sequel to Turn and Burn: The F-14 Dogfight Simulator, a Game Boy game which also featured the F-14 Tomcat aircraft. An enhanced port of this game was released as F-14 Tomcat on Game Boy Advance.
