FULL GAME: SF Glens vs. Central Valley Fuego 2 (July 10, 2022)
Max Chrétien scored four second-half goals in an 11-minute span to lead the San Francisco Glens to a 7-0 win over Central Valley Fuego 2 at Skyline College on Sunday.
San Francisco ended the home portion of the regular season with some offensive fireworks, but the game was still very much in doubt until the 64th minute, when a hard challenge by the Fuego's Stephan Morris led to referee Pedro Luna issuing him a red card.
From that point, the Glens used the man advantage to extend their lead from 1-0 (thanks to a 27th-minute goal by Diego Grande, his seventh of the season) to 7-0. Chrétien netted a quartet of scores from minutes 65 through 76, with Dominic Valdivia assisting on three of them.
With the game out of reach, head coach Gabe Saucedo emptied his bench, with Jake Himelstein assisting SF Glens Academy product and debutant Kian Jones in the 80th minute. Himelstein himself would close the scoring with one of his own in the 86th.
The Glens held on to their slim division title hopes, which hinge on them winning their final two road games at Marin FC on Wednesday and on Friday in Fresno against this same Fuego team, while Project 51O must also draw or lose to the Fuego on Sunday.
Either way, San Francisco is likely playoff-bound for the first time in club history and will await their fate in the coming week.
