Lord, Teach Us To Pray

1. What is a prayer? (Mt. 7v7)
Prayer is a cry, a conversation, and a confrontation.

2. Who do we pray to? (Jn 15v16; Jn 14v13-14; Rom 8v26)
Sound Biblical theology teaches us to pray to the Father God through the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power and quickening of the Holy Spirit!

3. Should you pray out loud? (Ps 4v3; Ps 88v1-2; Ps 55v17; Lk 11v2)
John Bunyan said, “When you pray, rather let your hearts be without words than your words without a heart.”

4. Should you pray in the morning or evening? (Mk 1v35; 2 Tim 1v3; 1 Thess 3v10)
Devotion is your life given to Jesus, but devotions are your time spent with Him.

5. What should be my physical posture in prayer?
When it comes to prayer, the posture of the heart is the most important.
But we see David sitting in prayer (2 Sa 7v18).
Jesus talked about standing in prayer (Mark 11v25).
The most common posture is kneeling. Daniel knelt in prayer (Dan 6v10).
Stephen prayed kneeling (Acts 7v60). Peter prayed kneeling (Acts 9v40) Paul prayed kneeling (Acts 20v36; 21v5; Eph 3v16).
Another posture is facing the ground, Jesus prayed like that in the garden of Gethsemane (Mt 26v39).

6. Where should I pray?
Jesus is our model. He prayed in the wilderness (Lk 5v15-16), a mountain (Lk 6v12-13), a garden (Mt 26v36-56), or any solitary place (Mark 1v35).

7. What should I say in prayer?
* Thank God for what He did for you. (1 Thess. 5v17-18)
* Praise God for who He is. (Hebrews 13v15)
* Confess your sins. (1 Jn 1v9)
* Ask God for what you need. (Mt 7v7-11)
* Intercede for others. (1 Tim 2v1)
* Pray in the tongues. (1 Cor 14v14)
* Wait on the Lord. (Isa 40v31; Ps 27v14)

8. Listen to God. (Jn 10v27)
