This video shows what the RDK S100 Edge AI board is really capable of when you use it in real projects.
The RDK S100 comes with a powerful BPU (Brain Processing Unit) that delivers up to 80 TOPS of AI performance, making it perfect for real-time computer vision, YOLO object detection, pose estimation, and edge AI applications. Everything you see in this video is running live on the board, not on a PC.
In this project, I start with the basics and show how to control GPIO pins on the RDK S100, not just using a terminal, but through a graphical user interface (GUI) built with PyQt5 and Qt Designer. We control a real LED connected to the board and display its status in real time inside the GUI.
You will learn:
How GPIO works on the RDK S100
How to control hardware using Python
How to design a GUI using Qt Designer
How to connect PyQt5 with real GPIO pins
How software and hardware work together in an edge AI system
Before this, I worked on advanced projects like a squat counter using pose estimation, a virtual laser security system using YOLOv5, and a radar-style object tracking system. These projects show how powerful the RDK S100 is for AI security systems, smart surveillance, and robotics.
I also explain why this time I used a USB camera instead of a stereo camera, and why I switched from Ethernet to Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 using the Realtek RTL8852BE expansion board. This setup gives faster speed, lower latency, and a clean wireless workflow—perfect for future AI and IoT projects.
