Beats vs. Lyrics

Are there too many rappers out there right now that are "dependent" on their beats? Aren't all rappers dependent on instrumentals to some extent? Do you not care about the beats? Do you not care about the lyrics? What artists, in you opinion, hit the perfect balance between great instrumentals and verses.

What did you think of all this jazz? Do you favor instrumentals? Lyrics? Where do you feel your ears being drawn when you listen to a hip hop track?
