Carrying out a Basic Service on a 2000 K11 Nissan Micra

A special, extra long video covering some work on my K11 Micra. This is a 100th Subscriber special!!

Welcome to my latest video. Today, we focus on a basic service, performed on my 2000 Nissan

Micra 1.0SE (K11C).

Spring is very much upon us, so my time can turn to working on the various cars, starting out

with a service and once over, for the little Micra.

All procedures outlined in the Video, are my intepretation, and for entertainment purposes

only. Always read the manual and if in doubt, seek professional assistance.

Jacking up the Car - 26 seconds
Performing the Oil Change - 4 minutes 50 seconds
Changing the Spark Plugs - 11 minutes 20 seconds
Changing the Air Filter - 16 minutes 20 seconds
Changing the Fuel Filter - 17 minutes 43 seconds
The Walkaround - 20 minutes 55 seconds

Further Details
---------------

Jacking up the Vehicle

- Refer to manufacturers literature for further information
- Always use a suitable Jack
- Never support the car on just the jack
- Always use suitable axle stands
- Keep children and pets away from the vehicle underside
- Go slowly, stop and back off if the vehicle starts to slip on the jack, or an axle

stand becomes mislocated

Performing the Oil Change

- It is best to change the oil, with the engine warm
- I used 10W40 Semi Synthetic oil, from Comma
- The oil and filter should be changed every 4000 miles. I tend to change twice a year
- Remove the oil filler cap before removing the sump plug
- Always dispose of oil safely, at your local recycling facility.
- Not shown, is me decanting the oil into an empty Oil container, ready for a tip run.

Changing the spark plugs

- Not videoed, is me gapping the sparkplugs, to manufactures recommended values.
- go slow, do not overtighted, as you may risk striping the threads.

The Walkaround

- It is best to work corner to corner, jacking up and supporting each corner of the car, in

turn.
- not shown on the video, is me removing each rear wheel to check the rear drums. To do

this, I raised one side at a time, chocked both wheels still on the ground and released the

hand brake, the vehicle was in park, but, place the car in gear if you have a manual. Spray

plus gas or WD40 around the lug nut studs and hub. I then grasped the outer edges of the

drum and tugged a couple of times. The drum released easily. You may, however, have to bash

the edges of the drum to release the pads, if they're stuck to the drum for any reason. In

extreme cases, you may need a drum puller. I then tend to check the pads for condition and

thickness, then rub a little sandpaper to rough up the pad surface, in a circular motion. I

check the inner surface of the drum, for excess wear. Whenever working on the brakes,

consider wearing a breathing mask. I finally clean the area with some brake cleaner and

allow to dry before reassembly.
