Today’s video update brings you the details of the soon to be launched visa route for highly skilled talent from overseas.

On May 30, the government of the United Kingdom is set to introduce a “highly selective” visa scheme for graduates of the world’s top-ranked universities. The government expects to enhance the skill base of the country through this launch.

The High Potential Individual visa route seeks to entice highly skilled talent from overseas to support “growth and innovation”. It will be available to bachelors, masters or PhD graduates from institutions on a “Global Universities List” of 50 institutions.

The annually published list by the Home Office will mention the institutions outside the United Kingdom that are ranked in a minimum of two of three renowned rankings. The recognised rankings that are part of the initiative are the following: Quacquarelli Symonds World University rankings; Times Higher Education World University rankings; and The Academic Ranking of the World Universities.

Being in the top 50 of only one ranking will not be sufficient to be included in the global list.
