Zelensky Meets US Senators in Kyiv to Discuss Peace Efforts CLRCUT

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with US Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal in Kyiv on May 30 to discuss the ongoing war with Russia and the prospects for upcoming peace talks. The visit comes as expectations remain low for meaningful progress in negotiations, with both Ukraine and Russia still far apart in their demands.

Senator Graham announced that the US Senate will move forward next week with legislation to impose new sanctions on Russia and countries purchasing Russian oil and goods. He also accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of deliberately stalling the peace process.

Graham, who spoke to President Trump before the trip, said the US president now expects concrete steps from Moscow. Both Kyiv and Moscow are trying to align themselves with Trump’s peace efforts — Ukraine is seeking more military support from the US, while Russia is hoping for sanctions relief.
