1000 Lakes Rally 1993

(in Finnish) In this 1993 event the rally world got it's first glance of the speed of the brand new Subaru Impreza driven here by #2 Ari Vatanen. The Toyota drivers #1 Didier Auriol and #4 Juha Kankkunen (first time co-driven by Denis Giraudet) as the main rivals. Poor #5 Markku Alen's drive with his Impreza was very short. #8 Hannu Mikkola caps his top level rally career in a drive with the third Toyota. Also appearing are the sole Lancia (Astra Team) by #13 Tommi Mäkinen, two Mitsubishi Lancers of #3 Kenneth Eriksson and #6 Armin Scwarz and two Ford Escort RS Cosworths of #5 Malcolm Wilson and #9 Sebastian Lindholm (both in Ford blue livery but not driving for manufacturer points). #16 Marcus Grönholm (co-driven by Voitto Silander) shows up his speed. #12 Lasse Lampi in an old group A Galant has enough speed to match a works team Lancer.
