The Fushun West Open Pit Mine – the largest man-made crater on Earth

In northeast China lies a colossal scar on the planet: the Fushun West Open Pit Mine.
⛏️ Dug for over 120 years, it spans the size of 40 football fields and plunges nearly 1,600 feet deep — the equivalent of stacking ten skyscrapers on top of each other.

This mine powered cities, fueled industries, and became a symbol of human ambition. To put it in perspective: if you dropped the Eiffel Tower inside, only the tip would stick out.

It’s a feat of engineering so vast, it’s even visible from space. 🚀
