Ideas are a unique thing.

I've seen great ideas that were not explained well.

I've seen average ideas that were explained phenomenally and they get way more traction.

How does an average idea get more traction than a great idea?

THE ANSWER:

Ideas are only as great as the explanation behind the idea.

THE CHOICE:

I would rather have an average idea with great explanation or great communication versus a great idea that I can't figure out how to execute.

THE PROOF:

You've probably seen this before:

→ Products that are not as good but the market behind the product is so phenomenal that you think the product is the best product in the entire world

→ Great products that don't have the market, the communication behind that product. You know the product is good but it doesn't get the same traction.

THE REALITY:

The best idea doesn't win.

The best communicated idea wins.

The clearest explanation gets the traction.

The most compelling story gets the buy-in.

The simplest articulation gets the execution.

You can have the smartest solution, the most innovative approach, the most transformative strategy - but if you can't communicate it clearly, it doesn't matter.

THE PRINCIPLE:

Ideas are only as great as you are able to communicate the idea.
