The French Defense is a very difficult opening for many intermediate and beginner players to crack, with so much theory required to have a chance against a French Defense player who is very well booked up. Therefore, I would highly recommend giving this gambit a go against the French, the Horwitz Attack - Papa-Ticulat Gambit. This is the gambit I play in this game against the French defense which is an insane game with what is essentially a checkmate in 8 later in the game with several great move and a brilliant move rook sacrifice!
