1869 Boston Coliseum, "PEACE" sign (silent, still image)
Made to be viewed in 3D using a VR headset.
Image from the Library of Congress.
Built for the National Peace Jubilee celebrating the end of the Civil War. This building was later destroyed in a terrific gale on September 8 1869. The newspaper report specifically mentions the circular window being blown in and the pipe organ destroyed, as well as the great drum being knocked over and punctured by boards from the roof. Ten people and a terrified dog were inside at the time but all escaped unharmed.
