Pacific Summit 2021: Full Program

From June 22, 2021: California is an unquestionable global innovation leader. Our innovating spirit has launched entire industries, created some of the world’s greatest companies, and inspired some of our most transformative human, scientific and technological discoveries and breakthroughs. And yet, for all our success, California is also home to nation-leading poverty, intractable homelessness, a crushing housing affordability crisis and gross economic and social inequities.

As California emerges from the shadows of COVID and the disruption the pandemic has wrought on our economy and our communities, how do we create a better future for the Golden State that addresses these and other important challenges? That is the question we will seek to answer at the 2021 Pacific Summit.

As we continue to confirm speakers, we are honored to announce that Governor Gavin Newsom will headline our speaker lineup! He will share his thinking and insights on the past year, what we have learned from the experience and his vision for the future of California.

We are also excited to welcome Leon Panetta, former Secretary of Defense, CIA Director, White House Chief of Staff and founder of the Panetta Institute for Public Policy, and Meg Whitman, former President and CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprises and current board member of General Motors and Procter & Gamble, to discuss what California must do to maintain and grow its role as a global innovation leader. We’re assembling more business, government and thought leaders who will share their insights and thinking on topics related to our 2021 theme, The Future of California: Innovation and Equity.

California Senator Alex Padilla will share his incredible story, outline the priorities he is focusing on and offer his thoughts on how California can maintain its leadership as the world's innovation capital while also addressing our many challenges.

We're also looking forward to welcoming Attorney General Rob Bonta, who will discuss his priorities, including a heavy focus on racial justice and equity, and share his thinking on how California can continue to push the boundaries of innovation and economic opportunity while ensuring the fair and equitable application of the law.

Additionally, we’re proud to welcome leaders from three of the Golden State's major ethnic business groups — Julian Canete, President and CEO, California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce; Pat Fong Kushida, President and CEO, California Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce; and Edwin Lombard, President and CEO, California African American Chamber of Commerce — to discuss policies that enable inclusion and equity in the economic recovery.

We're excited to feature a panel discussing doing business with a purpose with Linda Rendle, CEO of Clorox, as well as a panel discussing health equity in the time of COVID with Mary Watanabe, Director, California Department of Managed Healthcare and Dr. David Pryor, Chief Medical Director, Anthem Blue Cross.

Finally, we look forward to welcoming experts Joaquin Esquivel, Chair of California Water Resources Control Board; Michael Carlin, General Manager of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission; and Kate Poole, Director of the Natural Resources Defense Council to discuss water, drought and climate resilience in California.
