Fade to Grey by Joshua Gilbert

We really wanted to make a good video on a very tight budget. The key was the lighting and how I framed the shot. This was a collaboration between a video maker and a musician. Josh had the perfect song for the vision I had in mind; dark, moody lighting and focusing on an intimate connection with the singer. Filmed entirely using a Canon 7D with a 50mm lens. The camera was either locked down on a simple tripod or freehand to get that closeness. We did 7-8 takes of various angles and even filmed a few incidental cut shots which ultimately I didn't use as I felt it interrupted the flow of the visuals. Our philosophy was very clear, do the simple things well and I hope we have come close to that.
